Hepburn was named for her mother, Katharine Martha Houghton
Hepburn (1878-1951), a longtime New England feminist and birth
control advocate. Hepburn's niece, actress Katharine Houghton, also
was named for Hepburn's mother. Houghton co-starred in the 1967
comedy/drama "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," in which she appeared
as Hepburn's daughter and the fiancée of the character played by
Sidney Poitier.
