Biography

AudioInformationPhenomemon label head Marc Bianchi began the electronic-based space pop project Her Space Holiday mostly as a bedroom endeavor in 1996, after departing the hardcore scene. (He'd played in bands like Indian Summer and Calm.) Releases during that formative period included the Audio Astronomy 12", Astronauts Are Sleeping, and the Something Blue EP. Then Her Space Holiday moved to Tiger Style for the 2000 full-length Home Is Where You Hang Yourself, and the well-received effort led to touring and remix offers. After a 2001 move from San Francisco to Austin, TX, Bianchi and his girlfriend/collaborator Keely issued the Manic Expressive LP, and followed that with 2003's Young Machines (Mush). The Young Machines remix project appeared soon after, with work from notables like Matmos, Super Furry Animals, and Stereolab. Two new discs were in the works for 2005; the Let's Get Quiet, Vol. 1 EP emerged in May, and a full-length album, Past Presents the Future, followed a few months later. The second Let's Get Quiet EP arrived in 2007. Released in 2008, XOXO, Panda and the New Kid Revival featured more live instrumentation and hooky pop songs. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

History

Marc Bianchi began as a musician in the California hardcore scene. He was a part of Indian Summer and Mohinder before assuming the moniker "Her Space Holiday" in 1996. Initially, Bianchi was not interested in releasing Her Space Holiday's first works, as he was focused on launching the bands associated with his new (now defunct) record label Audio Information Phenomena. However, after being approached by Chocolate River Industries to record a 12" EP, Her Space Holiday became Bianchi's full time project.

Since the release of Her Space Holiday's first EP, the band has released six full length albums, several singles and EPs, and a remix album. He has toured with Bright Eyes, The Faint, Pinback, Bob Mould, The American Analog Set, Lymbyc Systym and others. He has also remixed songs from REM, Duster, The Faint, The American Analog Set, Xiu Xiu, and others.

Marc's newest addition to his discography, the album released on October 7, 2008 in the United States titled "Xoxo Panda and the New Kid Revival" is a great departure from previous Her Space Holiday albums and with a new sound. Completely throwing away the computer on this project, he brings a folk and jam sound to his material, with emphasis on songwriting.[citation needed] The live band for the Xoxo Panda material features Andrew Kenny of American Analog Set and Mike Bell & Jared Bell of Lymbyc Systym.
