Hermann (Clemens Otto) Deiters

(b Bonn, 27 June 1833; d Koblenz, 11 May 1907). German writer on music. Besides his essays in the Allgemeine musikalische Zeitung (1865-82), he wrote on Brahms, whom he knew, including the first authoritative Brahms biography (1880). His most important work was the revision of Thayer's Life of Beethoven (1866-1908).
