during the Mandate period, there were two resistance movements:
Irgun Tzvai LeUmi, or ETZ"L (National Military Organization) and
Lochamei Herut Yisrael, or Lechi (Fighters for Israel's Freedom).
The essential difference between the groups was the ETZ"L called a
truce on attacks against Britain during World War II, but Lechi did
not.
