Given the Establishment clause of the Constitution, in addition
to the increased secularization of the population of the United
States, and also understanding that practitioners of Hinduism
represent a very small portion of the total number of people
practicing religion in the United States, it seems extremely
unlikely that Hinduism could find a political foothold in the
United States. How it 'might' be politicized is interesting
hypothetically; it would depend on the number of people practicing
Hinduism who become part of the political landscape and have enough
support behind them to bring their beliefs into their legislative
decisions. This is not impossible and certainly in India there is
probably significant interplay between religion and politics.
