John Napier was a 16th century mathematician, so he was unaware
even of the concept of a computer. He is mostly remembered for his
mathematical discovery of the logarithm, a discovery which has lead
to innumerable applications in every field of science. While there
are indeed many uses for logarithms in computer science, to say
that they are a part of computer history is like saying that the
sine function is a part of the Big Bang theory's history.
