The British Rail was the operator of most of the rail transport in Great Britain between 1948 and 1997. It caused dramatic changes in the national railway network.

On a technical basis, the nation of Pakistan began in 1947. The country was created by the British. The entire Indian subcontinent was a colony of Great Britain. In 1947, Britain created Pakistan out of India. So the history of Pakistan dates from 1947 onwards.

Southern Railway - Great Britain - was created in 1923.

When Great Britain withdrew from India in 1947, Pakistan gained independence. It was established as a new Muslim state on August 14, 1947.
