The Jews that live in Morocco are treated like normal citizens. After the creation of the State of Israel, many of the Jews living in Morocco moved to be with other Jews, but some of them stayed. The Jews there live in communities and practice their religion freely. Currently, it is estimated that 6000-7000 Jews live in Morocco, mostly in Casablanca.

While Morocco has certainly had its share of violent wars and oppressive governments, it does not have an especially violent history.

There were a number of Mountain Jews communities; including those in Azerbaijan, Dagestan, and Morocco.

Those of Azerbaijan and Dagestan (the Caucasus) emigrated to the U.S., Europe and Israel, with several thousand remaining in the Caucasus; while those of Morocco's Atlas Mountains have emigrated to France, Israel and the U.S., with some remaining in Morocco, especially in Casablanca.

Jews have been persecuted throughout history.
