Hohenstaufen

 

Hohenstaufen, German dynastic house from which the medieval German emperors and kings were drawn for more than a century. They are Konrad III, Friedrich I, Heinrich VI, Philipp von Schwaben, and Friedrich II. Their reigns covered the years 1138-1250, except for the period 1198-1218 (see Otto IV). They are commonly spoken of as Staufer.
