Homeland Security Advisory System was created in 2002.

The colors in the Homeland Security Advisory System are as follows: Green = Low; Blue = Guarded; Yellow = Elevated; Orange = High; and Red = Severe.

The Director of Homeland Security comes to work in the morning and says, "It feels like an elevated threat today." Truthfully there's no set criteria for the Advisory System and the best action to take if the threat level is ever elevated is to tuck your head in between your legs and pray. Unless you're an atheist, then in lieu of praying you would just hope luck is on your side.
