if a 4 cylinder ,locate thermostat housing, remove 2 nuts
holding coil on, then remove 2 bolts holding housing on, t-stat is
in housing

Where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine you will find the thermostat housing. Under that housing is the thermostat. Usually has 2 bolts holding it on.

The thermostat housing on the 1998 Mazda 626 6 cylinder is
located underneath the air filter housing. You need to remove this
air filter housing to get to the thermostat housing. There's two
(2) bolts the left connecting the thermostat housing to the motor
and another two (2) bolts facing the steering wheel connecting it
to the engine. This is where the thermostat is housed.
