The dominant wavelength of a color. Also known as "chromaticity." A color system (color space, color model) measures color by hue, saturation and luminance. The hue is the predominant color, the saturation is the color intensity (from white to pure color), and the luminance is the brightness (from light to dark). See color space, HSB, HSL and CIE Lab.

Color. Red, blue, and green are the primary hues that, in varying proportions, produce all the colors we see. Variations on these primary colors plus black are the basis for four-color process printing that is able to duplicate all the colors of an image with only three colors of ink.
