People with autoimmune diseases take immunosuppressents to stop their immune system from attacking their own tissues. I also believe that people with leukemia have all their white blood cells killed so they are also immunosuppressed. I'm pretty sure that transplant patients are immunosuppressed to avoid rejection of their new organ.
