injection molding

A manufacturing process for forming objects, as of plastic or metal, by heating the molding material to a fluid state and injecting it into a mold.

The adaptation of a plastic material to the negative form of a closed mold by forcing the material into the mold through appropriate gateways. See also molding, compression.

A molding procedure whereby a heat-softened plastic material is forced from a cylinder into a relatively cool cavity which gives the article the desired shape.
