Possible and rejected name change

At the 2008 Annual Meeting in Vancouver, the IIE Board of Trustees had a town hall meeting to discuss changing IIE to the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE). Professional members of IIE will vote on this name change in December in the annual election of IIE officers. A pro and con presentation of the name change was presented in the September 2008 issue of Industrial Engineer magazine. At the end of 2008, IIE members voted and this was rejected by a majority of them.
