The Russian Marxists had remarkable goals as stated in their
declaration of 1903. They envisioned the following after the
overthrow of the Tsar:
1. Rule by the people and an elected assembly of law makers;
2. Direct elections by secret ballot, with suffrage for all,
including women;
3. Widespread local governments;
4. The inviolability of persons and their homes; and
5. Unrestricted freedom of speech, press and the right for
unions to strike.
