Iput was probably the daughter of King Unas, the last king of Fifth dynasty of Egypt. She married Teti, the first Pharaoh of the Sixth dynasty of Egypt and thus helped strengthen his claim to the throne. Their son was Pepi I Meryre and she acted for him as a regent after her husband's death.[1]
She held the titles “Great of Sceptre” (highest ranking queenly title during the Old Kingdom), “King's Daughter”, “King's Wife” and later, “King's Mother”. She was buried in Sakkara, in a pyramid near that of Teti, her remains are in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. A stela shows her with her son.[2]
