Isa Khan was the architect of the Taj Mahal and designed it on
orders of the Emperor Shah Jahan. The emperor's 14th child was born
of Mumtaz Mahal and she died whilst giving birth. That was when Isa
(an Irani architect) designed a mausoleum (The Taj itself), after
practicing on a mud building in Delhi. The finished building was so
beautiful that the Emperor cut Isa's hands off so that he'd never
build anything as beautiful as the Taj Mahal ever again.
