The Ammonites

According to Strong's Lexicon, "jabesh" (#3003) means "dry," and "gilead" (#1568) means "rocky region."

They were the children of Dinah, descended from a gentile father. Dinah was the seventh born child of Jacob/Israel, who was born on the 7th day of the 7th month.

They told Nahash (the Ammonite king) to give them seven days to see if any of the (other) Israelites would come to their aid. See 1 Samuel ch.11.
