Jameson Raid happened in 1896.

Raid headed by Dr Jameson which triggered the Boer War. JWS

The Jameson Raid was part of a blatant attempt to unseat President Paul Kruger of the Transvaal. It was certainly a huge aggravation in Anglo/ Boer relations.
