Javanese is a term for native people of Java island (main island
of Indonesia), they predominantly located in central and eastern
parts of Java but can be found in all Indonesian territories, there
is also have significant Javanese Suriname, Netherland, New
Caledonia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Javanese is a people who speak
Javanese language or practicing Javanese culture or writing Aksara
Jawa (Javanese alphabet) or someone that was born and rised in Java
island. Javanese is a part of Austronesian peoples by linguistic
family and part of Mongoloids peoples by racial clarification.
Javanese became dominant ethnic group of Indonesia (42% of
Indonesian population is Javanese according to 2011 cencus).
Althought the official language of Indonesia (Indonesian language)
was modified from Riau Malay language, Indonesian language was
heavy influenced by Dutch and Javanese language, Javanese was
dominated many Indonesian aspect (politically and culturally).
Javanese languages has many varieties, the poppular is Jawa ngoko
(low); Jawa madya (medium); Jawa krama (high). There is sub-ethnic
of Javanese such as Osing, Tenggerese, Boyanese, Cirebonese,
Banyumasan, etc. Most of Javanese people wrote in Latin sript
rather than Javanese script because it was more simple, but
Javanese script still remain alive in Surakarta and Yogyakarta
city.
