Javel, or "eau de javel" is the name for the household chemical called bleach in English. The name comes from the district in Paris where the factory making it was first located.

Founded in 1919 by French industrialist Andr©-Gustave Citro_n (1878_¾_1935), Citro_n was the first mass-production car company outside the USA and pioneered the modern concept of creating a sales and services network that complements the motor car.
