- Claim to Fame: Host of Survivor known as "The One Take Wonder"
Seattle-raised Jeff Probst is best known as the host of the reality television series
No featherweight, the One-Take Wonder wrote and directed an independent film called Finder's Fee in 2001. The film, which starred James Earl Jones and Robert Forster, won the Best Picture and Best Director awards for Probst at the Seattle Film Festival and resulted in his being showcased as one of the "Ten Directors in the World to Watch" by the American Cinematheque during that year.
Prior to hosting Survivor, Probst hosted VH1's Backchat and Sound fX, and was the voice of Vice Principal Raycliff in the animated show Fillmore. Probst also served as a correspondent for the syndicated Access Hollywood, a job which took him all over the world to conduct celebrity interviews.
In 2008, Probst became the first to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program.
In his spare time, Probst — a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Chef school — cooks. He also acts as a spokesperson for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation.
