A Jenny Haniver is a name for a fake mermaid. People fake a Jenny Haniver's existence by ataching different animal bones together and saying that they found a dead mermaid body. Japanese fishermen turned creating Jenny Hanivers into a art form in the 16th century. They used usually a female orangutan head sewed onto a salmon body. Fishermen would say they cought their Jenny Hanivers on their last fishing trip and anyone who didn't Cary a picture of her around would be cursed and would sell the picture to the people. Later, the Jenny Haniver would be sold to muesuems and circuses. This means that the Jenny Haniver is a hoax.
