(b Mölln, Lauenburg, 17 Jan 1728; dBienenhof, 14 July 1788). German composer. He became chamber musician and organist at the Schwerin court in 1747 and in 1750 visited J.S. Bach at Leipzig. From 1753 he directed a private musical establishment at Riga. An individual composer, he wrote chiefly harpsichord music (sonatas, concertos etc) in an expressive and virtuoso style influenced by C.P.E. Bach. His other works include organ pieces and songs.
