This drummer is associated with the blues scene in Los Angeles, particularly the Pioneer Club. Smokey Wilson--a blues singer from Mississippi who on a good night can sound like Howlin' Wolf himself--was the manager of this legendary venue, often the scene of hair-raising encounters between Wilson and harmonica-chewer William Clarke. Particulary fine documentation of such mid '80s happenings have been released on the Black Magic label; drummer John Moore also is featured on several of Clarke's releases. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, All Music Guide
