Need some cash to finish that play/novel/biography/symphony/history/work-of-utter-genius-that-just-can't-be-defined? Well perhaps the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation is for you. The foundation gives away some 200 grants annually -- totaling nearly $7 million in 2004 -- to established professionals in most every intellectual and creative field (except the performing arts). Fellowship award winners have included Ansel Adams, Martha Graham, and Eudora Welty. Founded in 1925 and named for its founders' deceased son, this Guggenheim Foundation is unconnected to the Solomon Guggenheim Foundation or its museums.
