Mostly. There is always some inherit risk of a password manager intercepting your password, so stick with the well-known ones - the ones built into in Firefox, IE, Chrome, or Safari are probably safe, or just use Keepass (Free/Open-Source, http://keepass.info/) or AI Roboform ($30, http://www.roboform.com/) in Windows.

There are quite a few different ones available.

I prefer "KeePass Password Safe" (used since it came out by many of my friends as well).

The big advantage is that it is freeware !

Roboform is another popular tool which not only keeps your passwords safe but also can be used for the automated filling out of forms.

Although the cost is somewhat high.

Answer: You can also try Billeo. It's a free VeriSign secured and TRUSTe certified tool that does a wonderful job with managing passwords. Also enables bill pay and tracks your expenses.
