It can get a kernel panic, which is what a blue screen of death is. What this means is the kernel hits an error it can't recover from. It will either result in the halting or the rebooting of the host system.

A Kernel Panic can be caused by either software or hardware problems. The details of the problem are saved in the file called panic.log found in the Logs folder in the Library folder. Ensuring that all hardware is functioning correctly and that all software is a legitimate copy and installed correctly you can try and pin down the problem by following Apple's Isolating Isuues advice. The Linux kernel does not have a process id (also called pid). Process 1 is almost always the process scheduler, init. PIDs are assigned to each subsequent process that is started and they will usually vary. Do not remove init, doing so would likely have catastrophic consequences, a kernel panic for instance.
