When i was a teenager and working out i was told to not be alarmed if i gained weight while trying to lose it. If you are lifting weights you gain muscle mass. i think that if your child is overweight he or she should be losing the weight. If not overweight i can imagine them gaining muscle mass depending also on the type of exercise. Maybe your child is eating when your not looking?

If your kid is over weight and weight training he or she will most definitely gain weight because fat is easy to turn to muscle the fuel is already there although they should loss clothing sizes to say a thin kid will gain weight faster is an ignorant statement a thiner kid would have to really increase there food intake to keep up with the bigger kid. This is what happened to me as a child in what sounds like the same situation I was in at age 15 I weighted 210lb started to train and went to 240lb but my waist went from a 48in pant to a 40in. as a teen you child will put on muscle at an incredible rate. hope this helps.

a 10 year old kid should not be worrying about their diet unless their parents are wanting them to lose weight

in this case, reduce the amount of calories they consume daily and cut out the foods which contain a lot of fat or sugar

2 or 3 fruits and 5 vegetables should be eaten daily, approximately 1200 calories should be consumed depending on the weight and height of the kid
