"Ol Doinyo Lengai" means "The Mountain of God" in the Masai language of the native people. The record of eruptions on the mountain are 1883, 1904, 1910, 1913 and 1915. A major eruption took place in June 1917, which resulted in volcanic ash being deposited about 48 kilometers away. The eruption took place between 1926 and 1940 resulted in the ash being deposited as far as Loliondo, which is 100 kilometres away. Several minor eruptions of lava were observed in 1954, 1955, 1958 the early 1960s.
Volcanic activity in the mountain caused daily earth tremors in Kenya and Tanzania beginning on July 12, 2007, on July 18, 2007 at 8.30pm (Kenyan Time). The volcano erupted on September 4, 2007. The eruption has continued intermittently into 2008

Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second-highest in Africa, after Kilimanjaro. The highest peaks of the mountain are Batian (5,199 meters (17,057 ft)), Nelion (5,188 meters (17,021 ft)) and Point Lenana (4,985 meters (16,355 ft)).

Virunga Mountains,
The Virunga Mountains are a chain of volcanoes in East Africa. Located along the northern border of Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda.
The name "Virunga" is an English version of the Kinyarwanda word ibirunga, which means "mountains".
The mountain range formed from eight major volcanoes. Most of them are dormant, except Nyiragongo (3,462 meters) (11,358 ft) and Nyamuragira (3,063 meter) (10,049 ft), both in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Recent eruptions occurred in 2006, and in January, 2010. Mount Karisimbi at 4,507 meters (14,787 ft) is the highest volcano among the eight (8).
The Virunga Mountains are home of the critically endangered mountain gorilla, listed on the IUCN Red List of Endangered Species due to habitat loss, poaching, disease, and war.
Ruwenzori Mountains is sometimes called the Mountains of the Moon, often referred to as Mt. Rwenzori, located on the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with heights of up to 5,109 m (16,761 ft). The highest Rwenzoris are permanently snow-capped, and they, along with Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya are the only such in Equatorial Africa.
The mountains formed about five (5) million years ago in the Miocene age as a result of an uplifted block of crystalline rocks.
The range is about 120 km (75 mi) long and 65 km (40 mi) wide. It consists of six massifs separated by deep gorges: Mount Stanley (5,109m), Mount Speke (4,890m), Mount Baker (4,843m), Mount Emin (4,798m), Mount Gessi (4,715m) and Mount Luigi di Savoia (4,627m). Mount Stanley is the largest and has several subsidiary summits, with Margherita Peak being the highest point. The rock is metamorphic, and the mountains are believed to have been tilted and squeezed upwards by plate movement. They are in an extremely humid area, and frequently enveloped in clouds.
