Kumarpal (1143-1172 AD) was a famous ruler of Anahilavada (Patan). He belonged to Solanki branch of Chalukya clan.

He was a devoted disciple of the great Jain polymath Acharya Hemachandra.

Kumarpal was responsible for rebuilding the Somnath temple [1]. He also built several Jain temples, including the temple at Taranga.

"Kumarpala Rasa" is one of several books describing the life of Kumarpal.

He had an elephant named "Shrikar".
