country but can be divided into traditional stylistic regions. The
art from within these regions have evolved separately from each
other to a large degree resulting in the Tribal Art from New
Ireland being completely different for example from the Tribal Art
from the Lower Sepik River.The reason for the diversity of art
styles is no doubt the same as the reason for the diversity of
languages. New Guinea has the largest diversity of languages for
its area of anywhere in the world having 700+ languages and also
has the largest diversity of art styles.In general New Guinea art
