Jeb was Calvin Nelson born 1907 in Osage, Oklahoma, son of
William Nelson (of Kansas). His stage name originally was Zeb while
he worked with Mandy. Later, he would partner with Viriginia Ann
Robinson, born 1931 in Conroe, Texas, who would become known as
Cousin Easy. Zeb became Jeb when the cursive Z of Virginia's
handwriting was thought to be a J. After the printing, it was
decided not to recall the records so Jeb stood. The couple traveled
throughout the south and west, and in particular, followed the
rodeo circuit. In addition to comedy, Easy played the bass and
sang. Zeb was adept at close magic and playing the guitar. Their
comedy was based upon vaudeville acts. Zeb passed in his sleep in
Prairieville, La, in a cabin on the Little Amit River. Virginia
still lives in Baton Rouge, LA.
