Biography

A member of the Cleveland gangsta rap group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and brother to onetime group member Flesh-N-Bone, Layzie Bone remained relatively quiet in the wake of the group's mid-'90s breakthrough success. While fellow Bone Thugs Flesh-N-Bone, Bizzy Bone, and Krayzie Bone all recorded solo albums, Layzie presented the Mo Thugs Family, a wide and revolving roster of Cleveland-area urban groups featured on the multiple albums. His solo debut, It's Not a Game, finally appeared in 2005. A year later he released Thug Brothers, a collaborative effort with Young Noble from the Outlawz, along with the solo effort The New Revolution. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide

Early life

Steven Howse was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 23, 1975 to Curtis Howse and grew up in the rough Cleveland neighborhood of East 99th St. and St. Clair Avenue. He attended George Washington Junior High School along with Bryon McCane (Bizzy Bone), Anthony Henderson (Krayzie Bone), Charles Scruggs (Wish Bone) and Steven's brother Stanley Howse (Flesh-n-Bone). The group of young men, who called themselves "The Bandaid Boys", would often harmonize rap sessions in between classes in the hallways of the school. The group would later attend Lincoln West High School together. It was during their time at this school that the group began to record professionally[4].

Career

The group of young men formed the band B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e (all except for Flesh-N-Bone) and recorded an album entitled Faces Of Death in the studio of their then mentor, Kermit Henderson (Krayzie Bone's older brother) on his indie label Stoney Burke in 1993. After this Layzie and the rest of the Bone Family boarded a Greyhound Bus to Los Angeles where they worked with notable producer and rapper Eazy-E and his Ruthless/Relativity Records label. Diego Blak (born Diego hodge), a marketer and promoter and co-executive producer of Faces Of Death introduced them to Eazy E at a concert he promoted in Cleveland, Ohio where they auditioned for him in his dressing room and then traveled back to Los Angeles, California after the show to seal the deal. At this point they became known as Bone Thugs-N-Harmony[4].

Solo career,Mo Thugs & Bone Brothers

Layzie has also promoted the indie label Mo Thugs Records which he and the rest of Bone originated. He released his first solo album Thug By Nature on March 20, 2001 the exact same day Bizzy Bone released his second solo album The Gift. He also has collaborative albums with Young Noble from the The Outlawz and A.K. of Do Or Die, solo albums out such as It's Not A Game, The New Revolution, Cleveland, Startin' from Scratch: How A Thug Was Born, and the upcoming solo album to be announced Ruthless. He has had a series of albums with Bizzy Bone under the name Bone Brothers entitled: Bone Brothers, Bone Brothers 2, Bone Brothers 3, and Still Creepin On Ah Come Up.
