Biography
American-born Lewis D. Collins was a theater director before calling the shots on a series of two-reel films. Collins' first feature was 1930's The Devil's Pit, which he also scripted. The bulk of his output from 1931 to 1952 consisted of economical detective, Western, and jungle pictures. Lewis D. Collins also shouted "action" and "cut" on such Universal serials as Junior G-Men of the Air (1942), Adventures of the Flying Cadets (1943), Adventures of Smilin' Jack (1943), The Great Alaskan Mystery (1944), Mystery of the Riverboat (1944), Raiders of Ghost City (1944), Jungle Queen (1945), The Master Key (1945), The Royal Mounted Rides Again (1945), Secret Agent X-9 (1945), Lost City of the Jungle (1946), Mysterious Mr. M (1946), and The Scarlet Horseman (1946). Lewis Collins (born 27 May 1946 in Bidston, Birkenhead, Cheshire) is an Englishactor best known for his tough-guy role as Bodie in The Professionals. He was educated at Bidston Primary and Grange School in Birkenhead. The tough guy started out as a ladies hair dresser before playing drums and guitar in pop groups. He had a number of other jobs before deciding to become an actor. Collins trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art then went into Rep at Chesterfield and Glasgow, toured with Prospect Theatre Company and then to London's West End. He also did tours in America and Canada. Stage included: City Sugar and The Three Penny Opera.
Lewis Collins married school teacher Michelle Larrett in 1992, and the couple have three sons: Oliver, Elliot and Cameron. Collins holds a private pilot's licence and his hobbies include parachuting and sports shooting, rifle and pistol. He likes fast cars and motor cycles, and often rode them fast at night along country lanes. He also holds a black belt in Ju-Jitsu and is trained in karate. He also does weight lifting, swimming and squash. He can also play some musical instruments. At one time, he lived in a converted (still mobile) ambulance.
