When referencing a book with many authors, include the names of all the authors in the citation using the "et al." abbreviation after the first author's name if there are more than three authors. In the reference list, list all the authors' names.

You can differentiate authors with the same last name and first initial by including their full first name in the citation. If both authors have the same first name as well, you can include their middle initial. If that is also the same, you can list their names in the order they appear in the original work.

In a MLA Works Cited page, the list is alphabetized by authors' last name. If a source has no author, the title is used for alphabetizing. Multiple works by the same author are arranged chronologically by publication.
