The word expletives

"He was known to use expletives in nearly every statement he made."

Words that are expletives

Mild or euphemistic expletives including "doggone" and more offensive ones such as "goddamn" could be used to describe strong feelings, or as interjections before the sentence. (Most expletives cannot be written here.)

Examples:

"He called me a goddamn liar and a stupid SOB."

"Damn, that was a close call!"

The expletive sentence

When a sentence begins with "there is" or "there are," it is called an expletive sentence and the subject is the noun following the verb. Example: dog is the subject of There is a dog in my bed.
