List of Ghost Whisperer episodes

Ever since Melinda was a girl she has the ability to talk to earthbound spirits. These spirits use Melinda as a conduit to pass messages to the living; sometimes this information is too intense and scattered to understand. In the pilot episode, she must help a sergeant named Paul (Wentworth Miller), who died in the Vietnam War, to crossover. Paul has a son named Michael. Michael has a wife. In the end, Michael went to Melinda's house. Melinda gave Paul's compass to Michael and told what his father is saying next to her.

Six year old Kenny Dale (played by Joseph Castanon) is killed in a train accident when the family car stalls in the path of an approaching train. Unaware that he has died and unable to find his parents he befriends a young boy whose mother believes Kenny to be nothing more than an imaginary friend. Melinda has to go look for the boy's parents to try to convince them that their son is still with them and help him to cross over.

A young girl, Natalie, is placed in a psychiatric facility for her strange behavior following her identical twin sister Zoe's death. While on a field trip in town, Natalie runs away from her group and tries to hide in Melinda's shop. Melinda quickly realizes that Natalie's 'abnormal' behavior is due to her sister haunting her. Zoe is earthbound because of a devastating secret she took with her to the grave: she slept with Natalie's boyfriend while intoxicated and while Natalie was asleep.

A ghost helps Melinda save a woman who attempts suicide. Melinda learns that the ghost was the woman's fiancé and that he was an organ donor. The ghost refuses to crossover until he knows who received his heart and until his fiancee is taken care of. With a little help from a ghost-nurse in the hospital, Melinda is able to find the person to heart was donated to and gets that person in touch with the woman. You immediately see that their two hearts make a connection and that there might be love. Enough for the ghost-fiancé to leave for better places.

Andrea and Melinda are contracted to auction furniture from a community inn before it is torn down. While cleaning the basement Melinda finds the lost spirits of three boys and their dog that perished in an orphanage fire 50 years ago. Melinda tries to help the boys pass on before the inn is destroyed by a moody multimillionaire. In the end we learn that this man also lived at the orphanage and that, though he was presumed dead, his body was never found. But in fact, he was the only one that escaped from the fire and wanted to get rid of the bad memories.

Melinda helps an upset teenage ghost, who's not peaceful after its death and in the process learns something that will affect the lives of everyone this boy left behind.

A woman who died during a routine pregnancy will not cross over until she can get her husband to stop blaming himself. Andrea deals with a con artist in a revealing manner that tells us a little more about her murky past.

The five-year anniversary of Jim's father's death is getting close and Jim begins to act very strangely. Melinda notices this change in his behavior and believes the problem might be caused by a tortured spirit lurking around. While Melinda tries to help Jim, she is also presented with the surprise visit of an old friend (played by Estella Warren). This visit brings back painful memories of times past for Melinda.

Melinda and Jim's car is stolen by a troubled teen boy whose mother died. He feels that his mother betrayed him when she was alive and can't forgive her. Melinda must help him understand what his mother wants to tell him. The mother was an electrical engineer who passed via electrocution and can only communicate by EVP (Electric Voice Phenomenon) (SP)

In this episode, an evil spirit wearing a wedding gown haunts Melinda's friend Lisa. The spirit, called Serena, is very opposed to moving on and presents a tough challenge for Melinda. This spirit is special, Melinda learns, because she died on the day she married Lisa's current fiancé. The jealous, vindictive Serena has her heart set on destroying the wedding and the couple, and does everything in her power to interfere with Melinda's attempts to set things right.

In this episode a woman who recently died will not pass over until her young son, who is a boxer, reconciles with his father, her husband. Melinda is enlisted to help this family come to terms with their loss but has a lot of difficulty getting these two men to reunite.

Melinda encounters the spirit of a dead comic who is confused and doesn't understand his current state of existence. Melinda learns that this comic took his own life and she helps him make amends with all those people he left behind before he passes over. Also in this episode, Jim is threatened by the antique shop's recent business boom.

While a man moves in across the street from Melinda, she notices that presence of a ghost as well. He turns out to be the grandfather of her neighbour's former girlfriend, who disappeared and is presumed dead. Her grandfather promised to not rest until he finds out what happened to his granddaughter and therefore haunts the man day and night.

The spirit of a man follows Melinda home from an art gallery. This ghost haunts Melinda into getting in touch with his daughter who is having serious problems since his death. Meanwhile, Jim is sued for trying to help a woman after her injury.

Melinda remembers how her relationship with her mother got strained when she re-encounters the first ghost she ever saw. When younger, Melinda's mother could not deal with her daughter's prodigious and supernatural gift; this led to a growing rift between the two. Now Melinda must reunite with her estranged Mother to help save the spirit of this young girl.

In this episode, Andrea is the one being haunted by a ghost. It starts with things moving in her apartment, until she gets to scared that she asks Melinda for help. The ghost keeps coming and going, saying that he is not dead and that he has to show them where his brother is. Going through some old photoalbums, they find out that the ghost is a former colleague of Andrea.

While shopping for antiques at a local home, Melinda encounters a spirit of a malicious boy who is terrorizing his family. The boy died after an accident that no one wants to talk about, not even his mother. Everyone blames his former nanny for his death. He particularly haunts his baby sister, for no reason and terrorizes the nannies. One evening, Melinda gets a phonecall from the ghost, who says : 'Who is watching the baby now?'

The circus arrives in town and brings with it the spirit of a man who thinks his brother murdered him. Melinda must help this ghost come to terms with his death and his brother. And during all this, they discover a hidden secret.

Melinda must help the ghost of an African-American man who had been attacked and killed by a lowlife, racist white co-worker in the 1970s. The ghost, named Ely Fisher, is haunting the prosecutor (now a judge) who had enough evidence but still failed to file charges against the white co-worker. Melinda tries to help Ely find justice and help his son, Randall, to change his racist views before they are passed on to the next generation - his grandson, Jameel.

After waking up from a coma caused by a head injury that put her in the hospital for a week, Melinda can no longer see or hear spirits. She fears she has lost her gift. At the same time, a person who she helped, Diane Shields, comes to her in need of her help. She asks Melinda to help her brother's daughter, who experiences strange and bizarre things after the recent death of her boyfriend during a football practice. Later on, she realizes that it isn't her gift that has vanished but somehow the ghosts have been drifted away from Grandview.

Melinda experiences a sense of intuition when she realizes that a plane is going to crash when the spirits of the pilot and flight attendant contact her. Melinda tells Andrea about her premonitions and Andrea is worried for her brother who was meant to be flying out from Johannesburg that very day. Andrea and Melinda attempt to warn people about the impending crash, but when Melinda informs Andrea that the plane was from Johannesburg, Andrea decides to head over to her brother's apartment in an attempt to contact him.

(Continued from "Free Fall") Andrea seems to know that there is something that her friend isn't telling her. The souls from the crash go at the crash site as Melinda encourages them to cross over. However, the wide-brimmed hat spirit convinces them to stay earthbound. Melinda must keep the mysterious evil spirit from capturing the souls and also must reveal to Andrea how the plane crash killed her and she is now an "earthbound spirit."

Melinda worries that Andrea is being influenced not to cross over. Melinda seeks the help of an expert in history and the occult in helping to identify the wide brimmed hat man who is the one trying to make Andrea remain earthbound.

Melinda encounters a ghost who asks her to speak with his wife. He leads her to a woman who is confused and angered by Melinda's visit. The ghost reveals himself as someone from Melinda's past. Melinda must try to cross him over before he harms her or Jim. She must also deal with a teenage shoplifter who may be under the influence of an earthbound spirit. Introduction of Delia and Ned.

When Melinda goes to visit friends who are experiencing problems with their house, she finds the ghost of a six-year-old girl who drowned. Melinda then tries to help the family of the little girl.

After purchasing a set of ornaments at a flea market, Melinda finds that they are haunted by a ghost who won't speak to her. Melinda receives a series of visions from the ghost to deduce his story and help a friend he left behind. L. Scott Caldwell (of Lost) guest stars as Liz, the mother of the autistic girl.

The ghost of a man who was buried in the wrong grave starts to haunt a cemetery as someone else’s wife is coming to mourn him every night. Melinda must reconcile the man with his hostile wife and daughter in order for him to be able to cross-over.

Jim has a ghost who died during surgery come to him in his dreams. Melinda and Jim find that the ghost, a supermodel, cannot cross-over as she wants to save her little sister from suffering the same fate.

Melinda and Jim's first camping trip is interrupted as Melinda helps the ghost of a woman who left her husband and young daughter. Before the woman can cross over, Melinda must find the woman’s daughter and help her to learn the truth about her parent’s past in order for her to be safe.

The ghost of a chef who died in a fire at a Chinese restaurant meets Melinda after the restaurant burns for a second time. He tells Melinda that she must find out who set the fire that he was blamed for. In the meanwhile Melinda remembers the night she and Jim first met.

When Melinda meets a nightclub waiter who has not played his guitar since his friend, Jared, died, she finds that he is being haunted by two ghosts.

A high school baseball pitcher named Justin finds that he is haunted by the former star baseball pitcher. The ghost is out for revenge on the coach, whom he blames for his death.

While Melinda is at the university’s botany lab, she deals with some telekinetic events while dealing with a plant from Peru that is bleeding. Melinda finds that she must help a professor save herself.

Melinda has been having these weird visions. She thinks that a ghost has been trying to communicate with her in. Later on, she realizes that the ghost who is trying to communicate with her is not actually a ghost but a man who is in a coma whose wife and family are in a legal battle to take him off of the life support.

Melinda meets the ghost of a young man named Eric. After figuring out Eric has been reincarnated many times as different people, Melinda must convince Eric to come back and not fight being reincarnated again when he starts to threaten the woman who is carrying a baby that Eric might become.

Melinda meets a young woman who owns a family auto shop. Her boyfriend has died in a street race and blames her for his death.

Melinda deals with the ghost of a young woman named Thais and the rest of her cheer leading squad and a girl named Maddy, an ex-cheerleader herself, who seemingly has been casting spells on the team to cause them trouble and harm them. Melinda must figure out from Maddy and another cheerleader named Ranna what is keeping Thais from crossing over.

Delia has her engagement ring restored at a local jeweler and when she and Melinda go to pick it up, the store is violently robbed at gunpoint. Later, Melinda is visited by the ghost of the jewelry store salesman, Randy, who died after the robbery of a severe asthma attack. He and his dangerous brother-in-law Wyatt had planned the robbery together but when Randy hid $75,000 from Wyatt, Wyatt became angry and locked him in the basement, causing the attack.

A body goes missing from the local morgue. Melinda, Jim, and Professor Payne quickly realize that the body may have been taken over by an earthbound spirit and they're dealing with a vengeful zombie. Guest star: Jamie Bamber

Strange things are happening around a teenage girl, who's been cycling through the foster care system for several months. Melinda decides to become her foster parent, to see if she can help her. However, it's proving more complex than she thought.

Melinda helps Ned deal with a ghost who had just put a scare into him. Melinda discovers that the ghost is someone Delia knew, and she realizes she must share her gift with Delia in order to help her and the ghost. Melinda also helps a ghost who appears without any clothes on.

Melinda meets a man named Gabriel Lawrence who has the same abilities to see and talk to the dead. Melinda later learns that he has a different plan for the dead. Further encounters with ghosts encourage Professor Payne to help Melinda more.

Melinda becomes concerned for the safety of the people she loves when a ghost prophet shows her visions of the future. The fellow Ghost Whisperer Gabriel, whom Melinda doesn't trust, is still in Grandview.

(Continued from "The Prophet") Melinda visits the Mayor of Grandview and asks him to cancel the memorial dedication they will be holding. She tries to find the young girl who survived the plane crash the year before in an attempt to explain a series of similar accidents. Later, Melinda and Professor Payne search for the missing children whom Gabriel might have kidnapped. Meanwhile, a mysterious man tries to get Melinda to stop helping the good guys. In the end, Melinda has a terrifying experience that reveals some information about her family.

Jennifer goes to Melinda's store to sell some belongings that came from her deceased parent's house. Melinda then helps Jennifer with her father who died when she was only a toddler. Someone takes photos of Melinda and they show something suspicious. Melinda finds that she has a hidden connection to Grandview while digging into her family's past.

Melinda helps a group of college girls after one of their friends dies and begins to haunt them. Melinda must get Rachel to believe she is not Bloody Mary.

Jim’s friend Matt returns home with memory loss after serving overseas in the military where all of his friends died. Matt’s comrades appear to Melinda to help Matt regain his memory.

An attorney seeks Melinda’s help. Shane tells Melinda that the ghost is of his dead stalker. Melinda soon finds that Shane has not told Melinda the truth about the ghost and confronts him but Shane finds another way to deal with the situation.

Melinda and Professor Payne meet with another college professor who discloses that she had an affair with a student. That student just passed away after an accident.

Melinda and Jim discuss a kidnapping where the family has contacted a psychic who Melinda believes is telling the family stuff that they want to hear just so he can make money off of them. Melinda goes and talks to the family and finds that something else has happened to the missing girl.

Melinda becomes involved with a couple of ghosts who refuse to cross over after she finds that they are causing trouble for a man and his daughter. The ghosts make Melinda play a game of twenty questions.

While Melinda and Jim are taking care of Becca, Melinda finds that Becca can also see the dead.

Melinda is at the house of young boy named Riley and as they're hanging Christmas ornaments on the tree, Melinda tries to get him to open up about the strange things he has seen.

Melinda helps Ned at his new high school were there are several different hauntings. In the process Melinda finds that she is investigating the intricate world of gossip and romance within the high school before she uncovers the reasons for the hauntings.

Melinda helps a ghost who blames Jim for his untimely death in an explosion.

Strange happenings surround Ned's new girlfriend and her family. Ned enlists Melinda's help, who believes they may be haunted by their deceased father. Melinda gets to the bottom of it and helps keep the family together.

After graffiti is repeatedly painted on Melinda's shop doors, she seeks out the town blogger convinced he is the one causing the mischief in an attempt to expose her. Melinda is forced to encounter the dark side of Grandview in order to help the latest ghost cross-over.

Melinda investigates the haunting of a college student after the student sees a horror movie.

Professor Payne meets Elliot, the brilliant son of one of his old girlfriends. When Payne discovers that the boy is almost 10-years-old, he realizes he may be the boy's father. This angers his deceased wife. After watching Payne, Elliot, and the boy's mother, Melinda tells Jim she wants to have a baby.

While trying to figure out the meaning of a dream, Melinda finds out some surprising news about her father.

Melinda discovers the truth about her family's past through a series of bodily possessions.

After being rescued by Jim from a fire at the Rockland University, Eli has a near death experience. Melinda becomes friends with Eli and soon discovers that they both have the same abilities.

A popular former classmate, Grace Adams, contacts Melinda because she thinks her dead friend, Lucas, is haunting her after discovering his body. Secrets come to light that Grace, Lucas, and another friend have covered up an accidental death that happened ten years ago instead of reporting it to the police. The plot line of the hit-and-run is similar to the plot line in I Know What You Did Last Summer, which Jennifer Love Hewitt starred in.

Melinda finds a ghost who is haunting young girls in Ned's online gaming community. She decides to go inside the online community to find a way to cross the ghost over, thinking he is dangerous. You get to see Melinda as a whole new person.

Melinda and Jim go on a cruise to celebrate their honeymoon. When they get there, they meet a young newlywed couple, Rich and Julia, and Melinda realizes a ghost has attached itself to Rich. Melinda also realizes the ship is full of ghosts that are having fun and partying. Melinda figures out that the ghost is looking for her fiance who wronged her and attaches herself to any man who she thinks is her fiance. When they get home Melinda thinks she could be pregnat.

Melinda discovers that the ghost of high school athlete is following a family that was not hers.

While Melinda and Jim are at his friend's wedding, a young girl's imaginary friend plays a dangerous game of hide and seek. It is up to Melinda to calm the ghosts who are causing the havoc.

A sorority girl goes missing in the woods during a secret initiation ceremony, and Melinda is confronted with the uneasy spirit of a sad ghost who encountered tragedy during that same ritual 40 years ago...

Linus has been hired by one of Melinda's neighbors, John and Devon, to come "investigate" a haunting in their house. Linus is a ghost hunter and uses all of his high tech equipment to try to capture real evidence of this haunting. Also Melinda shares her special gift with Jim/Sam and his reaction is not what she expects.

Jim/Sam helps Melinda as she tries to figure out what is happening to a kindergarten class before anyone gets hurt. Sam/Jim is confronted with the knowledge that Jim "stepped-in" to Sam's body and has crossed over.

Melinda encounters a high powered businessman who is now working for the department of water and power in Grandview as a mechanic, after waking up 3 years ago after flat lining with no memory of himself. What he doesn’t know is that he has been a “Step In” like Jim/Sam, for the past three years, but without the support from other people like Melinda.

A ghost causes problems for a television show that is filming in the Grandview town square. Afterwards, Melinda finds a surprise which will flip life around for her and Jim, forever. Melinda and Jim find out Melinda is 8 weeks pregnant.

Melinda discovers that the spirits trapped in a dollhouse have other plans.

After a faceless ghost girl visits Melinda, Melinda begins to worry about her child's safety. A book, called the Book of Changes, ends up in Eli's possession. It lists people who have died and come back in one way or another. Melinda's name is in it, with her date of death being her due date, September 25. Melinda finds out her child will be a little boy after something the ghost says worries her and Jim. One of the Watchers, Carl ( is Melinda's watcher and is the man who died in the season 4's "Body of water", also tell her that her son will not only be able to do what she does, but so much more.

Melinda undergoes immediate C-Section and then gives birth to a baby boy. Then five years later, Melinda and Jim's son, Aiden who also has the gift of seeing spirits, but with one important difference which will have far-reaching consequences. A woman who died during childbirth is determined to be reunited with her son.

When a college student is killed in a freak car accident, she is convinced that a chain email she failed to forward killed her while putting her mother in a coma. She begins to haunt anyone who does not forward the email. Melinda finds out that the mother was dying due to a brain tumor about which the daughter, at the time of her death, had not known. The mother does not make it out of the coma and the daughter learns the truth. Melinda manages to cross over both the mother and the daughter. A ghost named Scarlet is introduced at the end of the episode who manipulates a resident patient at the hospital into creating the "cursed" email.

Eli's father, Ray, dies from a heart attack. Eli's mother, Evelyn, has stayed around after her death and has not crossed over - despite pretending to have crossed over to hide from Eli. When Melinda sees Evelyn's ghost, she asks Melinda not to say anything to Eli and Ray about her. She mentiones it to Eli and he uncovers what seems to be an affair between his mother and his father's friend, making Eli worry that he may be the biological half brother of a childhood sweetheart. Luckily for Eli it seems his mother was a closet lesbian and the affair was actually with his father's friend's wife, thus insuring that Eli is Ray's biological son, so he can rekindle the relationship with his sweetheart without worrying they share a father.

When Jim brings home an antique surgical clamp from the hospital, he brings home more than he bargained for. Melinda and Aiden are both visited by a ghost surgeon who is reliving a failed surgery, and tormenting everyone around him with his guilt. Its up to Melinda to investigate a haunting at the hospital morgue and connect the links to the surgeons death. Meanwhile, Delia contends with a mysterious secret admirer. Another ghost is introduced, an assumed 1950's patient, he hasn't crossed over.

As Eli begins treating a wealthy high-profile client for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and severe paranoia, he discovers the patient has good reason to feel like hes being watched. He is by a ghost. When Aiden's emphatic connections sync up with Eli's client, Melinda has personal reasons to track down this ghost, and we take one step closer to understanding Aiden's true powers.

The Headless Horseman from the Legend of Sleepy Hollow is haunting Melinda and when the legendary book mysteriously shows up at Aiden's school Melinda becomes worried for Aiden's safety.

Jim and Eli find themselves connected in an unsolved mystery when both of their bosses are haunted by ghostly spirits. Jim's mentor, the Chief of Rockland Memorial Teaching Hospital, and Eli's boss, the Rockland University President, share secrets involving a missing young woman who's come back into their lives with unfinished business. And that unfinished business is vital enough to command the attention of the Shadows - those mysterious spirit beings Aiden's been warning Melinda about...
