If you expect an answer then you need to list exactly what make, model, year, and engine size you are talking about. GM makes many different cars with many different engines.

You probably have some GM engine, that filter application is a long list if GM engines, mostly Buick

GM did make 2 stroke diesel engines used in trucks and busses..they were noisy, requierd a super charger to run, loved to drink but very powerful.

From 2000-2003 are the same engines in the GM family. Also look out of the same year of Pontiac and other Gm models will work with minor changes.
