The locker/ Locker shelf was invented in 1942, by a woman named Florrible Del Carmen. Lockers were originally made out of wood or metal. At first lockers had no doors or shelves. People wanted lockers in their locker rooms, lockers couldn't be installed into the hallways, because there were no doors.
