Biography

Following the footsteps of their popstar peers -- Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and 'NSync -- the five divas in Innosense are ready to take on the dance-pop world of screaming teenagers, sell out tours, and manage through hardcore fashion shoots. The female quintet is another one of Lou Pearlman's gigs for his Orlando-based label, Trans Continental, releasing their RCA debut record, So Together, in August 2000.

Birds of a feather flock together, for the members of Innosense -- Nikki DeLoach, Danay Ferrer, Mandy Ashford, Veronica Finn, and Jenny Morris -- followed musical paths similar to their successors. DeLoach was a member of the Mickey Mouse Club, like 'NSync's Justin Timberlake and J.C. Chasez and pop chanteuse Christina Aguilera. Ferrer went to high school with 'NSync's Joey Fatone, and Ashford performed in musicals with another 'NSync member, Lance Bass. Timberlake's mother, Lynn Harless, starting managing the group in 1997.

So Together features song work from Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren (Celine Dion, Toni Braxton) and production from Guy Roche (Christina Aguilera) and Full Force ('NSync, Backstreet Boys). The girls describe their music as fun, upbeat, and a little retro, and claim their material is a reflection of their passion to dance and perform. And believe it or not, Britney Spears was an original member of Innosense prior to taking off to make a solo career in 1997. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

innosense was an all-female American group featuring Britney Spears and Nikki DeLoach, both of whom were members of The New Mickey Mouse Club. The band was managed by Lou Pearlman and Lynn Harless.[1] The original members were Danay Ferrer, Mandy Ashford, Nikki DeLoach, Amanda Latona, and Britney Spears and formed in 1997. Their inspirations were bands such as NSYNC and Backstreet Boys.[1] Later that same year, Spears decided to go solo and was later replaced by Veronica Finn. Later, Latona left the band and was replaced with Jenny Morris. In 1999, Innosense appeared in the teen movie Longshot. Spears also appeared in the movie, but not with the rest of the group.[2][3][4] Their name was suggested by Pearlman and Harless. The band decided to misspell the name so they wouldn't sound like "innocent little four-year-olds."[5] When Spears' solo career began, innosense became an opening act for her when she went on tour. The band released one album which did not hit very many charts. The band later disbanded in 2003 to work on separate projects.

Second line-up of Innosense (1997-1999)
  • Veronica Lee Finn (born April 5, 1981 in Memphis, Tennessee, U.S.)
  • Danay Ferrer (born July 28, 1974 in Camaguey, Cuba)
  • Amanda Marie Latona (born March 24, 1979 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.).[citation needed] She left the band to go solo, and was replaced by Jenny Morris. Before she left, innosense had so far released one single, titled "Wherever You Are". They made a video for the song that was released in Germany in 1998.[citation needed] Amanda Latona signed a solo contract with J Records and recorded Can't Take It Back (2002) and Do You Still (2003). Neither single did well and she was later dropped from the label. Latona dated Backstreet Boy AJ McLean. Latona was featured in an article in the August 4, 2002 New York Times Magazine. The article, entitled "Who's That Girl?,"[6] chronicled J Records' grooming of Latona's career in an attempt to ensure her success.
  • Mandeline (Mandy) Elizabeth Ashford (born March 16, 1979). Ashford grew up in Clinton, Mississippi and was a member of the Attache show choir, along with high-school friend Lance Bass, with whom she also shared a vocal coach. Bass recommended Ashford to Lou Pearlman, and she was selected to join the band innosense. Since then, Ashford has modeled in several publications, including Playboy Magazine.[7] She has also served as a spokesmodel for Swisher cigars, Miller Lite, Samson Technologies and currently Thompson Pump.
