Biography

Metalcore continued to rage in the mid-2000s, and Manntis fueled the fire. Active since 2000 in and around southern California, Manntis didn't gain a foothold nationally until 2004 and the band's participation in MTV's Battle for Ozzfest, a reality contest that pitted up-and-coming metal hopefuls against each other in competition for a record deal and Ozzfest tour spot. Manntis didn't win the competition, but it still gave them a chance to tour the nation. By April 2005, vocalist Jake Sirokman, guitarists Adair Cobley and Jeremy Swanson, bassist Clint Gregory, and drummer James Sanders had been signed by Century Media; Sleep in Your Grave, Manntis' roaring debut, appeared the following June. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide

History

Manntis originally formed in 2000 as a four-piece group. The band gathered mainstream attention in 2004 when they were one of the contestants on MTV's Battle for Ozzfest. Their lead guitarist, Adair Cobley, was picked as the representative for the band on the show. Ultimately, Manntis finished in third place (behind Curse Your Name and eventual winners A Dozen Furies).

On April 1, 2005, it was annoucned that the band signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records.[1] Their debut album Sleep in Your Grave was released on June 28, 2005. The tracks "Axe of Redemption" and "Weathered Souls" were released as singles, with music videos accompanying each.

The band announced that their next album, tentatively titled Master of Ceremonies and was due for a 2007 release, but has been longly delayed.
