Yes. The verb 'marche' is a form of the infinitive 'marchar', which means 'to march, walk'. As the first person singular, it may be the present subjunctive 'que yo marche', or 'that I may walk'. Or it may be the preterite indicative 'yo marché', or 'I walked'. As the third person singular, it may be the present subjunctive 'que el/ella/usted marche', or 'that he/she/it may walk'. Or it may be the imperative of command '[el/ella/usted] marche!', or '[he/she/it] walk'!'.

A PORTUGUESA

Hero'is do mar, nobre povo,

Nac,a~o valente, imortal

Levantai hoje de novo,

O esplendor de Portugal

Entre as brumas da memo'ria,

O' pa'tria sente-se a voz

Dos teus egre'gios avo's

Que ha'-de guiar-te `a vito'ria.

`As armas! `As armas!

Sobre a terra e sobre o mar!

`As armas! `As armas!

Pela Pa'tria lutar!

Contra OS canho~es marchar, marchar!

Desfralda a invicta bandeira

`A luz viva do teu ce'u

Brade a Europa `a terra inteira

Portugal na~o pereceu!

Beija o solo teu jucundo

O oceano a rujir d'amor

E o teu brac,o vencedor

Deu mundos novos ao Mundo!

[coro]

Saudai o sol que desponta

Sobre um ridente porvir;

Seja o eco d'uma afronta

O sinal de ressurgir.

Raios d'essa aurora forte

Sa~o como beijos de ma~e

Que nos guardam, nos suste^m,

Contra as inju'rias da sorte.

And in English:

Heroes of the sea, noble race,

Valiant and immortal nation,

Now is the hour to raise up on high once more

Portugal's splendor.

From out of the mists of memory,

Oh Homeland, we hear the voices

Of your great forefathers

That shall lead you on to victory!

CHORUS

To arms, to arms

On land and sea!

To arms, to arms

To fight for our Homeland!

To march against the enemy guns!

Unfurl the unconquerable flag

In the bright light of your sky!

Cry out to all Europe and the whole world

That Portugal has not perished.

Your happy land is kissed

By the Ocean that murmurs with love.

And your conquering arm

Has given new worlds to the world!

CHORUS

Salute the Sun that rises

On a smiling future:

Let the echo of an insult be

The signal for our revival.

The rays of that powerful dawn

Are like a mother's kisses

That protect us and support us

Against the insults of fate.
The Portuguese national anthem is called "A Portuguesa".

(i) The 'se' ending at the end of Spanish verbs indicates the Reflexive form, which corresponds basically to the English use of 'to....(one)self'. One way of translating the second example below (bañarse/ducharse) is 'to bathe oneself/to shower oneself'.

(ii) In Spanish, however, the form is also used to indicate the Passive form, corresponding to 'to be....ed', as in the two final examples (decirse/escribirse).

(iii) One additional complication is shown by the third example (irse), which doesn't have an English equivalent unless you treat 'irse' as meaning 'to go away': 'ir' meaning 'to go', and 'se' adding the 'away' element. The verb 'marchar' (walk) works in a similar way, 'marcharse' meaning 'to walk away'.

#

dormirse --- to fall asleep.

bañarse / ducharse --- to take a shower.

irse ---- to go.

decirse ---- to be said

escribirse ---- to be written.

... ... ... Actually, there isn't any simple rule. The two languages do not have total one-to-one correspondence.

*I recommend you to use an excellent Spanish- English dictionary.

The song is "Tiernas Mentiras" sung by various artist including the group called Samuray:

Me… dijo

Que yo era su amor

Y que no salía el sol

Si no estaba a su lado

Me… dijo

También que era su paz

Y que no pedía más

Que se había realizado

Me dijo mentiras

Tiernas mentiras

Que burlaron mi mente

Y me hicieron vivir

Me dijo mentiras

Tiernas mentiras

Que burlaron mi mente

Y me hicieron feliz

Le… dije

Cuando se iba a marchar

Que yo sabia olvidar

Que no se preocupara

Le… dije

Y ni yo lo creí

Porque dentro de mi

Pedía que se quedara

Le dije mentiras

Tontas mentiras

Que turbaron mi mente

Y me hicieron sufrir

Le dije mentiras

Tontas mentiras

Que turbaron mi mente

Y que hoy me hacen sufrir

Le dije mentiras…

Me dijo mentiras…

Tiernas Mentiras
