Siegel, Marcia B. (b New York, 17 Sept. 1932). US dance writer. She was educated at Connecticut College and has been the longstanding dance critic of the Hudson Review, and of the Boston Phoenix since 1996. She founded Dance Scope (1964-6) and has contributed to many publications. She is author of At the Vanishing Point (New York, 1972), Watching the Dance Go By (Boston, 1977), The Shapes of Change (Boston, 1979, repr. California), Days on Earth—the Dance of Doris Humphrey (Yale, 1987, repr. Duke Univ. Press), and The Tail of the Dragon: New Dance 1976-1982 (Duke Univ. Press, 1991). She taught on the faculty of Performing Arts at New York University from 1983 to 1999 and has lectured internationally on dance history and criticism.
