(b Philadelphia, PA, 1 Oct 1795; d Philadelphia, PA, 17 Jan 1882). Painter, daughter of (2) James Peale. She was taught by her father and painted primarily still-lifes, many of them copies of her father's, such as Still Life: Pomegranates and Grapes (c. 1820s, Baltimore, Mus. & Lib. MD Hist.). A lovely, simple still-life of Strawberries and Cherries is at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, PA. Her work resembles James's in its clear outlines, diagonal lighting and composition.
