Biography

Tanzania native Marin Hinkle is best known for her role as bookstore proprieter Judy Brooks on ABC's Once and Again, though her breakthrough performance was on long-running soap opera Another World. After the cancellation of Once and Again in 2002, Hinkle went on to find success in the sitcom world, co-starring with Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer on CBS' popular Two and a Half Men, and appeared on a variety of prime-time dramas including ER, House, and Law & Order. Though Hinkle is primarily a television actress, she has had small roles in several films; her credits include Frequency, I Am Sam, The Next Big Thing, and Rails & Ties. ~ Tracie Cooper, All Movie Guide

Marin Elizabeth Hinkle (born March 23, 1966) is an American actress, perhaps best known for playing the role of Judith Melnick, Alan Harper's ex-wife on the hit series Two and a Half Men.

Biography

Hinkle was born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the daughter of Margaret R. Hinkle, a Justice of the Superior Court of Massachusetts, and Rodney Hinkle, a college dean and teacher.[1] She attended Brown University and New York University (NYU).

She started her career on the soap Another World. She also portrayed Judy Brooks on ABC's cancelled show Once and Again from 1999-2002.

She has made several guest appearances on different shows such as Spin City, twice as different characters on Law & Order, Without a Trace", ER, "Two and a Half Men" and House.

She currently costars on the CBS hit show Two and a Half Men with Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer as Alan's neurotic ex-wife, Judith.

She has had several small roles in films such as I'm Not Rappaport, Frequency, The Next Big Thing, I Am Sam and Dark Blue. She has also performed on the stage, for example in 2005 as Miss Julie, opposite Reg Rogers, in the 1888 play of that name by August Strindberg (Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, New York) (see New Yorker, 30 May 2005). Hinkle has also appeared in the thriller genre, starring in the 2008 thrillers Quarantine and The Haunting of Molly Hartley.

She has been married to Randall Sommer since 1998, and has one child.
