Norma Leah (Nelson) McCorvey of Roe v. Wade fame was briefly
married to Woody McCorvey, an alleged alcoholic and wife beater.
The union produced one child, a daughter, Melissa, who was born
after the couple separated. Norma claims her mother kidnapped the
child after Norma confessed she had a sexual preference for women.
Melissa was raised and later adopted by McCorvey's mother. Norma
McCorvey had a longterm live-in relationship with her partner,
Connie Gonzales. Although the two still live together, McCorvey
became a "former lesbian" when she converted to Christianity and
was baptized Catholic.
McCorvey says she has also been an ardent pro-life supporter
since August 8, 1995. She was arrested in May 2009 for
participating in a pro-life rally on the grounds of Notre Dame, in
a protest against President Obama's visit.
