Mexico is one of the 18 "megadiverse countries" of the world (including countries such as the United States, Brazil or China). With over 200,000 different species, Mexico is home of 10--12% of the world's biodiversity. Some of these species would include the golden eagle, jaguar, opossum, Mexican wolf, green iguana, keel-billed tucan, American manatee, seal, rattlesnake and many, many more.

Mexico is home to 10% of all species found in the world, and is considered a megadiverse country because of this; there is however, another 90% of species that are NOT found in Mexico in the wild, such as:

  • Kangaroo (Macropus giganteus)
  • Polar bear (Ursus maritimus)
  • Jiraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis)
  • Gorilla (Gorilla gorilla)
  • Cheeta (Acinonyx jubatus)
  • Common moose (Alces alces)

Which are animals found in other continents and countries around the world.

The Wildlife of the Philippines has a significant number of plant and animal species that are endemic in the Philippines. The country's surrounding waters reportedly[who?] have the highest level of biodiversity in the world. The Philippines is considered as one of the seventeen Megadiverse countries as well as global biodiversity hotspot. In the 2000 Red List of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), 418 of the country's 52,177 species were listed as threatened. The Philippines has among the highest rates of discovery in the world with sixteen new species of mammals discovered in the last ten years. Because of this, the rate of endemism for the Philippines has risen and likely will continue to rise
