In Greek mythology, Melanthus (Μέλανθος) was a king of Messenia. He was expelled by Heraclids, and became later on a king of Athens, the successor of Thymoetes, succeeded by Codrus.
Melanthus was also a shipmate of Acoetes who attempted to kidnap Dionysus.
